About us
The idea of building Stoughton's first Brew Pub arose from the owner, Vik Malling, and his father-in-law, Duane Brickson (whom everyone referred to as “Grandpa”). They both enjoyed going on destination trips to sample craft beer in the area. One day, Grandpa said, “You know that someday someone is going to open a brewpub in Stoughton and we won't have to travel to enjoy great craft beer.” An idea was instantly born, and Grandpa put his master carpenter skills to work, drafting and designing the Viking Long Ship and its Interior layout.
THE REASON WHY
Vik and his wife, Lori had many friends and family help in creating the pub. The Viking Ship and Hilda (the dragon) were created, carved and assembled by Lori's talented brother, Mitchell Brickson.
We opened on August 14, 2014, and our first three beers — Nordic Blonde (Grandpa loved his Nordic Blonde!), Midnight Sun, and Soot in My Eye — Were initially contract brewed by Page Buchanan at the House of Brews. The Brew House was finally operational in October 2015, and brewmaster David Worth has added another eleven styles of the best beers in the Madison Area to make our pub a great place to relax and meet friends or make new ones. Our family restaurant is the only one in Dane County serving multiple authentic Scandinavian dishes.
So Velkommen! Ask us to show you Hilda the friendly dragon puff some smoke!
